Happy Talk - Ethical Design That Gives Back

We are proud to be working with designer Stephanie at Bombay Duck and our new cushion collection SMALL TALK launches today and gives back in more ways than one. Designed by Bombay Duck in their signature style, it is full of neon bright colour and handcrafted embroidery words to welcome you onto the sofa at the end of a long day.

They cushions are made from either 100% soft cotton or a beautiful natural 100% linen, finished with contrast piping and party sized pom-poms! The letters are embroidered in Jaipur on a hand-cranked machine at incredible speed - mesmeriszing to watch and with stunning results. The handmade nature of producing them this way bestows a unique quality to each individual cushion.

Each cushion is filled with the softest snuggliest stuffing, made from 100% polyester created from wait for it - recycled Evian water bottles! You can't imagine that something so hard could produce something so soft and comfortable but they do!

Bombay Duck has a long and affectionate relationship with the craftsmen and women making their products and they are produced to the highest ethical standards. Stephanie, once a buyer of exotic goods for Lberty's in the early 90's, has made India her home and cares deeply about supporting Bombay Duck's wonderful suppliers in India and their workers.

As a result of the Covid pandemic, the Indian lockdown means labourers cannot earn wages with which to feed their families, and their situation is increasingly desperate. In response, Bombay Duck is currently working alongside their supplier Ahmad Brass in the metal production hub of Moradabad, Uttar Pradesh, which is particularly hard hit, to bulk buy food supplies and provide food parcels to some of the neediest families. 

So you see, our new cushions - ethically and environmentally produced are not just HAPPY on the outside - they're full of love on the inside for the environment and those who made them, so you can enjoy that warm glow feeling inside moment every time you snuggle into one on the sofa!
